Supporting waste management and reduction

In particular, by 2025:

  • Reduce by 30% the quantity of our Waste from Healthcare Activities involving Risk of Infection (DASRI),
  • Eliminate the purchase of plastic bottles,
  • Move towards a paperless patient pathway,
  • Reduce food waste,
  • Engage our suppliers to reduce the over-packaging of our products: responsible purchasing policy,
  • Developing recycling channels for each establishment...

The impact of the health sector
Eco-actions

The French healthcare system accounts for more than 8% of national greenhouse gas emissions (almost 50 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent).

On average, a medical, surgical or obstetric establishment produces :

  • 1.6 kg of waste per patient per day,
  • 2.3 kg of hazardous waste per day of hospitalisation,
  • 491 litres of water are consumed per day of hospitalisation,
  • 685 KWhep* / square metre / year (*kilowatt/hour of primary energy)

Organ and Blood Donations

More than 14400 patients who need an organ transplant every year. The main obstacle to transplantation is the persistent lack of available organs.
